Welcome Minnesota Public Radio Listeners!

If you're arriving here because of my appearance on Midmorning, welcome! By way of a little background, I started The Millions in early 2003 when I was a bookseller at an independent bookstore in Los Angeles. I've since moved on from there, but the blog has stuck around. We now have several contributors besides me, and we write daily about books and other cultural topics.

Regarding the topic of today's show, you can read some additional thoughts of ours in these posts.

Heard most of the MPR show this morning and loved it. I was just talking to a friend last night (also a mother of young children) and we agreed to try to read one book - any book - every two months. And anything that a 3 or 6 year old would like doesn't count! Then heard the show this morning which further inspired me. I have never been to this site so I will now go and "look around". Thanks!

Great to hear you on the radio Max! Your point about the casual nature of book blogs and the idea that they create an interactive conversation about books rather than a static review found in newspaper book review is right on target. Thanks to The Millions for providing thoughtful dialogue about book.

Good work, Max! I thought you sounded cool and collected, whereas Wasserman was getting pretty tense.
