Welcome NPR Listeners

If you're arriving here after hearing my appearance on Weekend Edition Sunday, welcome! Just to give you a little background, I started The Millions in early 2003 when I was a bookseller at an independent bookstore in Los Angeles. I've since moved on from there, but the blog has stuck around. We now have seven contributors besides me, and we write nearly daily about books and other cultural topics.

If you want to look around, a great place to start is the notable posts on the right-hand sidebar. You can get to the archives by scrolling down to the bottom of the page.

Good morning. Glad I'm an avid Weekend Edition listener and an avid reader as well. I'm always on the lookout for new and worthwhile books to read. Thank you too, Mr Magee, for your contribution to "Summer Reads" Having visited my local library's site and checked for titles and their hours for today, I am off for a visit. Thanks again.

Sounded good, Max. I was going to race to post links at my site to all the books you mentioned, but you are of course already on top of it. (They didn't cut any of them out, by the way.) You represented us wee litblogs well.

I'm going to go after the Maqroll book.

I caught your interview on NPR this morning. The Adventures and Misadventures of Maqroll sounds interesting. I think I will try it. Thanks!

We recommend Maqroll often at a certain "independent bookstore in Los Angeles." In fact, the book was thrust upon me by co-workers on my third day of employment. It is indeed a great summer read. As for filling the Pottervoid, well... I usually recommend The Gormenghast Trilogy or His Dark Materials for most who suffer from an absence of magic in their reading.
